So I decided I do quite like the women I'm drawing, I've got a stack of sketches waiting to be digitalized. I'm really starting to get the hang of the look I'm going for and I'm kinda really pleased (for now haha). I quite sure I can make these designs look awesome on the Zazzle products and now I'm wondering if I should open a new store for it as it's so different from what I usually do. Then again I'm doubtful if they can hold a whole new store, I don't want a store with only a few designs in them as they will be harder to find (I think). And I've already opened 2 new stores the last few months and they're not as filled as I would like them to be! (too many ideas too little time)

choices choices... not my strongest side to deal with them...

In the making - portraits of women

I decided to step away from my 'normal' style and start working on something I've been wanting to learn for a long time.
I'm kinda really not good at drawing people, the few times I have succeeded was more due to luck and a 'perfect' moment then major skill. I haven't given myself the time to sit down and practice. So I made a compromise with myself (don't you love those 'conversations' with yourself? lol). I start with the things I am good at, or semi good at least. Which is drawing hair and the facial shape, in a sketched/ line drawing look, it's actually looks quite nice! It's still a work in progress but I kinda like the idea of no facial features and having the emphasis on the hair and a piece of clothing.

Designer's Block

I'm sure everybody has heard about a writer's block, or in my case a designer's block. I find it hard to prevent as for me it doesn't always happen for a clear reason (although I'm sure there is a reason). Usually when it happens I've been putting a lot of time in client work and simply need a break to clear my mind. Every now and then I just can't seem to get an illustration or design to match exactly to what I have in my head, which is the perfectionist in me. And if I don't have a clear deadline for that project I might get stuck in over thinking it and get no other work done. Not good! And sometimes I just feel like doing other things, specially if I'm not near a deadline.

To me it's clear I work best under pressure. When something has to be done, soon! Things seem to 'click' more easily and I get in a good flow. I've read so many blogs about how to deal with a writer's/designer's block, go for a walk to clear your head, do something completely different, try a new style, etc. Some of it works every now and then... but none are a perfect fix.

I've found that for me it helps to tell me it's ok to not work for a day (or 2). That's it's fine to lounge on the couch or play some games. I've gotten quite good at convincing myself that I need to stop listening to that nagging little voice in my head (no time to rest!!). If only it worked 100% of the time.

So for now, I think I'll *poof* to the couch :D

Stylized Trees

I love these trees in beautiful almost teal like color. Made a 'special one' for my mom with an owl in one of the trees. That one will be released for the public soon as well.

Also looks amazing on dark!

And what dog doesn't love to run in the forest?

Delicious Heart

Not really just for valentines day as this design reminds me of yummy summer ice cream as well. It's all in the eyes of the beholder I guess as it could easily be dripping paint... not so yummy to lick paint.. I think I'll go for the ice cream.

Looks awesome on black as well. Really makes the colors POP!

This is a design I made a long time ago, I still find these tiny blue worms very cute! I love the funny details in it, tongues sticking out, party hats on, shiny white teeth and a kissing couple. I should make more of this kind of design, makes me laugh when I'm making them. I guess that's another thing on the 'to do' list.

Let's Celebrate

I got a request for some specific celebration cards, made in the size of photo cards, but they come in packs of 10 and include envelopes. This person sends out a whole lot of cards throughout the year so wanted to keep it as cheap as possible. I've seen them in real and they look amazing!
